Benning Goes to Thailand
I would like to tell y’all regarding my experience in
Phuket Thailand. Long story short, I and some of my friends were elected to
become a presenter in Asia Forum Business on Education 2018. It such privilege
for us to learn and travel which is I personally always love to do that. Our
trip was sponsored by Sampoerna University and KJSB after we proposed a
proposal. My term paper is all about the homestay platform application that
only focuses on Indonesia. By empowering the role of local community in order to
support the local economy. Gratefully, I have learned about entrepreneurship,
therefore we can elaborate more on Business Model Canvas, value chain, and
another business tools whatsoever. Then, I believe that knowledge is one of
indicator that helps passed the test.
Well, our
journey began on 13th January me, Yuni, and Ari go from Bali then we transit in
KL for about 8 hours. We cannot go anywhere since our transit time less than 9
hours. We have no option then we spent our night there. The weather is kinda
cold that beneath our body. Long story short, I arrived at Phuket international
airport Thailand. Well, as I touchdown in the Phuket, the surface of the
airport is slightly different from KL or even Bali. Well, a bit strange
compared to both airports. It seems traditional and conservative. I have read
some article before, that state Phuket is nominated as 4th the most visited
island in Asia. Don’t get me wrong, to be honest, I put a high expectation with
that place. Then, (Drumroll) it so far more different, it is really awkward it
still traditional.
Then, we finally meet kak Tasya, Kak Lora, and Kak
Dhea at Phuket. Then, we go differently
since we book difference hotel. After, we finish with immigration and our own
baggage. We go to hotel by the airport bus from hotel to Phuket Town it cost 30
Baht/ Pax. It takes around 1 hour 30 minutes to reach our hostel. Along the
way, I feel so excited and keep watching to the road. Well, the view cannot
blink my eyes. This is so unbelievable, then I tried to wake my self and realize
that the reality is so different with the expectation. I can say it’s quite
same with gerokgak in the north Bali, the weather is VERY HOT bruh. Then, we
stopped at the Bus Stop, then we need to walk around 1 KM to reach our hostel.
Since we do not buy the SIM Card then we cannot identify the hostel location by
GPS. Then, we asked people around that area. Generally, they do not really know
English very well, but they really help and show us the location of our hostel.
After we already take a rest and prepare our
presentation, we have a plan to go somewhere. Then, we decided to go to the
weekend market. The weekend market held every weekend we only need to take a
walk around 15 minutes to arrive at the weekend market. I took some pictures
there, and we taste some foods (Some are good) and some do not fit tongue as an
Indonesian (Sorry not sorry). Everything is so brand new, the smell, the taste,
the language, and stuff. One thing that I will never forget about Phuket
weekend market is the smell that I cannot even describe by words. Here are some
pictures that I took, I also took several videos. I will edit it soon at upload
it on YouTube.
In the
weekend market, we found a lot of foods and most of them are Thai’s food.
Besides that, they also sold a lot of merchandise and souvenirs. Surprisingly,
some of the souvenirs that they sold are quite same with the souvenirs that the
Balinese sold in Gianyar, Bali. The difference is only the word of Thailand or
Phuket. It can be seen from the cloth, bag, and necklet. Uniquely, they also
show some tourist attraction such as Thai’s traditional dance and game. Here
are several photos that we took in the Phuket weekend market.
