The Difference between High School and University Learning

Some people state that high school is the most memorable moment to spent, it is because the high school gives so many freedom to enjoy their life and give a wonderful experience. However, after they are all graduate from the high school, they will feel a different condition which is they need to face the hard life and their freedom will decrease due to the more serious learning environment. To make it clear, there are three factors that differ high school and university learning which are the schedule system, the attendance, and the target goal.
One obvious difference is the schedule system that can be seen from the total amount of subjects that students take. Generally, in senior’s high school,  the student only need to ask their teacher for the schedule arrangement and the teacher will give them a brief of subject’s lists to learn in the whole semester. In contrast, the college level schedule system provide credit system which gives an optional for the student to choose the subject based on their ability and priority. For instance students with a high score can take more credit than those people who only pass the standard score, it because they have a different ability to learn.
Another thing to consider is the attendance. In the senior’s high school, it is mandatory for the students to attend the class full time, except there is something emergency happen in their life such as sick and family urgent. On the other hand, the university level allows their students to absent in the class for at least three times in the whole semester without noted for absent. It is because students need to explore knowledge outside the campus that cannot afford inside the class such as attending a conference and company visit.
The last aspect that differs high school with the university is the target goal. Usually, high school students quite focus with their academic record only, to earn a good mark and compete to get the top 10 rank. Meanwhile, most of the students in college level have a different focus, they tend to focus on balancing their academic and nonacademic skills by attending organization, community and conference without ignore the importance of academic. Those activities will help to complete their curriculum vitae in order to show a better performance than others competitors.
In conclusion, the difference between high school and university level can be seen from some aspects which are the schedule system, the attendance, and the target goal. By looking at those three aspects, students need to realize that high school is different with university level. So, senior’s high school students need to prepare their self to prevent a cultural shock in the university level.
